More than 40 years
of excellence in craftsmanship
The genesis of Lance began back in 1965 when Richard Murray started M&M
Trailer Supply in North Hollywood, California. Murray later changed the name
from M&M to Lance. At that time Lance campers were sold factory-direct, and
even then, Lance was the name in truck campers.
Murray was joined by Ron Mertes (who had the selling talent), while Murray
was responsible for manufacturing. Other truck campers existed at the time, but
Lance dominated Southern California in terms of leading market share.
Jack Cole, now President of Lance Camper Manufacturing Corporation, took a
part-time job after school at Lance. He soon became an important part of the
organization. When the energy crisis of the '70s hit and business was hard to
find, both Ron and Richard decided to move from Southern California. Jack purchased
the company from them and poured his time and effort into building a strong and
professional dealer network.
The company has grown ever since, initiating almost every innovative feature
seen in today's modern truck camper. The company has maintained its dominance
not only in California, but throughout North America, and has nearly a 40% market
share today.
Lance occupies a 110,000-square-foot manufacturing plant and administrative
offices facility along with a 31,000-square-foot parts and service building on
22 acres in Lancaster, California. It's one of the newest and most modern state-of-the-art
RV manufacturing facilities in North America.
Lance is one of only a handful of prestigious RV manufacturers to earn the
Recreation Vehicle Dealer Association's DSI (Dealer Satisfaction Index) Quality
Circle Award eight years running.
Lance associates take great pride in earning this recognition because it's
a true measure of how our dealers feel about Lance and the quality of our products
and support services that we provide. |
